Wednesday, November 1, 2006 -- Still reading about creation. Found another good article supporting the literal interpretation of creation found in Genesis -- In Defense of Six-Day Creation, Rev. Robert Grossman -- It should be very obvious to anyone reading Genesis, that the days are to be understood as literal 24-hour days. With the days being numbered, and the expression, "evening and morning," the days in Genesis are clearly 24-hour periods. Mention of the Sabbath day in Genesis 2:3 makes it clear that the days are literal 24-hour periods. God expects us to work for six days, not six long periods of time, then rest for one day, not for thousands, millions, or billions of years!! Exodus 20:8-11, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Scripture for today:
Proverbs 4:7, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."
Psalm91:1-2, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."
Isaiah 26:9, "With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early"
Colossians 1:10, "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God"

Reading: The Case for Biblical Literalism -- This is a good overview of evidence that Genesis chapters one through eleven are to be taken as literal history. The accounts read a factual, and describe the real world, using 64 geographical terms, listing 88 personal names, 48 generic names, and 24 cultural items (i.e., gold, bdellium, onyx, brass, iron, gopher wood, bitumen, mortar, brick, stone, harp, pipe, cities, towers). The New Testament refers to the historical events described in Genesis as literal history.

Friday - Saturday, November 3-4, 2006 -- Friday morning rained pretty hard for a few minutes. I look forward to the rain, as I can breathe so much better. I love to watch the rain and hear the sound of the rain. Had a somewhat difficult assignment -- Special Education, severly learning handicapped. Only nine students, but still challenging!!
Had another great night at Celebrate Recovery at Shelter Cove on Friday. Benny's friend, Matthew, spent the night with us. The kids are having lots of fun ...... All of us went to the Saturday Nigh Celebration service. Greg Buchanan played his full-size harp ... totally awesome!! Praise the Lord! I've never seen or heard anyone play the harp like brother Greg. He will be playing at church on Sunday again. I'll be there after singles Bible study for the second service. There will also be a live concert on May 3, 2007, with Greg playing his beautiful harp, praising the Lord with the sounds of only his harp.

Scripture for today: Matthew 15:18, "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man."
Ephesians 4:29, "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear."
Luke 6:45, "The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart."
Colossians 1:10, "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God"

Scripture for today: John 10:1, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber."
John 10:7, "Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep."

Sunday ........ , November 5 ....... , 2006 -- Today we are having a going-away breakfast for pastor Scott Miller. He will be leaving the singles ministry, so he can work as a full-time Celebrate Recovery pastor. Pastor Scott Stubbart will take over the singles ministry. Had a great time of fellowship at the singles Bible study. We ate breakfast together. People shared their experiences with pastor Scott and how God has used Scott and his wife in their life to help them grow in Christ. We watched a slide show with pictures of various ministry activities. Sunday morning worship was awesome, as usual. Greg Buchanan played his harp with the worship team, and did several solos. What a blessing, to see that God has blessed someone with such a unique talent for playing the harp to glorify the Lord.
Did some planting in the front yard. Planted some exotic tropical plants, including several palms, and three unknown plants (I think they might be some kind of Yucca?), flowers, peppers, and transplanted several rose bushes.
Still continuing the thread concerning praying to Mary ...... Check out some interesting pages concerning the queen of heaven:

Tuesday, November 7, 2006 -- Nirvana meeting, giving my testimony. Shared my testimony at Nirvana for about 20 minutes. Some of the guys had questions to ask me. Several guys expressed interest in Celebrate Recovery and wanted to know if they could visit Celebrate Recovery. Benny had a good time. He made friends with some of the guys at Nirvana, and was even wrestling with one guy! Doug is going to bring his guitar and sing next month. I asked Doug if I could sing with him, and he said that would be ok. Benny wants to sing with us too.

NOTES: Are the Apocrypha inspired writings of God, and should the Apocrypha be included in the cannon of scripture? Tobit 6:5-8, "If the Devil, or an evil spirit troubles anyone, they can be driven away by making a smoke of the heart, liver, and gall of a fish ... and the Devil will smell it, and flee away, and never come again anymore." -- This is witchcraft!! The Bible clearly teaches that we are to have no part in witchcraft!!
The Palastinian Jews and the Samaritans never accepted the Apocrypha as inspired. The Jews in Alexandria never officially accepted the LXX as canonical. The leading father of the Greek church also did not accept the Apocrypha as inspiried writings.
The Apocrypha contains numerous errors. This fact alone disqualifies the Apocrypha from being considered inspired, and thus the Apocrypha should not be given canonical status. There is no internal evidence within the Apocrypha claiming to be inspired. Unlike the Holy Bible as we have it, with 39 Old Testament books, and 27 New Testament books, which claims to be inspired by God, and is internally consistent.

Christians Using Profanity: Is is ok for Christians to use profanity? Why would anyone who claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ even think, let alone try to defend their "right" to cuss, that it is ok for Christians to use profanity? This is totally absurb! Even worse ..... it is very sad that some people have been duped by the enemy into believing that using profanity is acceptable!
Stop and think for a moment, what exactly do many of the cuss words relate to? Sex, illicit sex, using God's name (and the name of Jesus) in vain, bodily excretions, body parts in a disrespectful manner ..... Do you honestly believe that this manner of speech is acceptable to God? Is God really pleased with anyone (Christian or not) using profanity? Does using profanity make you look cool? Does using profanity make you feel cool? Does using profanity make you feed good?

Saturday - Monday, November 11-13, 2006 -- Rained Friday night. Clothes got wet .... Rained more during the day on Saturday. Planted pansees, calundulas. Still have bagoanias and another unknown flower to plant. Our tropical palms seem to be surviving the transplant. Rained yesterday (Sunday), last night, today, and is raining again this evening. I love the rain. Thank the Lord for rain ..... Helps me to breathe so much better, and clears up the air a bit. Will take a bit longer for our clothes hanging outside to dry ....
Yesterday our new roommate moved in, with a big dog! Benny and Tank are getting along just fine. Today when I came home Tank let out a bark, which took me by surprise. I'm not used to coming home to a bark!
I worked on the compost pile yesterday. Added a bunch of leaves and weeded the pile. Looking forward to planting a garden soon -- carrots, peas, swiss chard, spinach, potatoes, garlic, onions, lettuce, beets.
Thursday, November 16, 2006 -- Another good day at work. Went swimming after work. Need to get back into my exercise routine. Last night went swimming with Benny, while Dara was at the youth group. Tomorrow is my last day with the Special Ed kids. I'll miss them .... Friday is my first night working graveyard at Nirvana. Should be an interesting experience!
Unexpected ..... tonight the front bathroom flooded ...... what an aweful mess. I've been working on cleaning and mopping for several hours. Hopefully the plumber will arrive early to fix the problem.

Scripture for today: Hebrews 6:19, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain."
Hebrews 7:22-25, "Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them."
Psalm 139:23-24, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Friday-Sunday, November 17-19, 2006 -- Work at Nirvana this weekend passed by quickly. It will take me awhile to get used to sleeping in the day. Nothing eventful has happened lately. Skies have been foggy and cloudy for several days now, haven't seen the sky at all. The fog has been so heavy that you get wet if you are standing outside just from the moisture!

Yoda's Hideaway --

Thursday, November 23, 2006 -- I was shocked when I read Tuesday's newspaper. The people in the following article had been involved with taking care of my children! If my children were not living with me, they could have been the victims of these wicked and evil people!! I am so thankful to God that my children are no longer exposed to the Mao and Indula families.
Finished planting the flowers. Spending Thanksgiving with friends. Watching Eureka for the first time. Boys are playing Warcraft against each other. Maybe I'll go to the Northside AA meeting with Don and Darrell. Had a great time with our friends tonight. Ate lots of delicious food -- the best stuffing I've ever tasted in my life! Delicious candy yams that Darrell made. Watched movies, went to Northside AA meeting. Ate more food. Several people were preparing 50 plates of food to take to the homeless under the bridge. Went back to Don's, ate more food, watch more movies.
We're back home. Dara is practicing his guitar. Donnie is playing Halo. Benny is cleaning. I'm typing my blogs and listening to Celtic Christmas music. About to watch V For Vendetta.

Sunday-Monday, November 26-27, 2006 -- Just finished doing some yard work -- raking lots of leaves, working up the compost pile and ground for planting. Maybe I'll plant some peas after work in the morning. It started raining while I was still working outside. I love working in the rain!
Monday - Planted almost one package of snap peas and 1/2 pack of sparkler radishes in two raised beds. Soil is perfect for preparing beds -- cold and wet. Will have to wait until Wednesday to plant again. Tuesday -- Went to Celebrate Recovery with Dara. Ben got sick with the flu. He stayed home with our friend. Had a good time chatting with lots of friends at church. Wednesday -- Worked in the garden a little today. Put up a fence to keep the dog out. Now I'm feeling like I have caught a flu bug .... Dara is off to the youth group again. He really enjoys the youth groups. He was sharing some of the reading from the lesson they are doing tonight.
