-- "I do not know how some people, who believe that a Christian
can fall from grace, manage to be happy. It must be a very commendable
thing in them to get through a day without despair. If I did not
believe the doctrine of the final perseverance of the saints, I think I
should be of all men the most miserable, because I would lack any
ground of comfort." C.H. Spurgeon -- The C.H. Spurgeon Collection --
• (From a sermon by Spurgeon titled "A Defense of Calvinism" as found in
the book Charles H. Spurgeon: The Best from All His Works. Nashville:
Thomas Nelson, 1988, p.265.)
• I've been reading from the Big Book, "Alcoholics Anonymous." Yesterday
I finished Bill's Story. I'm on chapter two now, "There Is A Solution." Read a little from "The Young Earth," by John D. Morris.
Scripture
for today: Proverbs 4:18-19,
"The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining
ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is
like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble."
Psalm 105:4, "Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

Friday, October 13, 2006 -- "Dara
received an award at Shelter Cove for helping out with the children's
ministry. Doug and Dorothy recognized Dara as being faithful for a long
time, arriving early to help set up, and also helping with the small
group for the youth. Dara has been appointed as leader of the small
group for the youth! Praise the Lord.
Friday - Tuesday, October 20-24, 2006 --
Dara and I went to Shelter Cove. Benny spent the night at Cisco's. Went
to the 12x12 AA meeting with Bob at 10:30 on Saturday. It was packed. One
of the ladies who sings in the recovery band was there. I'm looking
forward to receiving my 26-year chip this Friday! The Celebration
Service on Saturday was awesome, as usual! "I've been sick now for at
least four weeks. Have a terrible sinus infection. Weather has been
warming up a bit. Yesterday it was 87 degrees at about 3:15.
Wednesday, October 25, 2006 -- I've found some very interesting reading material online -- Scientific Facts & Evolution
-- Still sick with a sinus infection .... miserable .... wind has been
blowing pretty hard since last night. Would love to see some rain! I
can breathe so much better when it rains. Pastor Scott just called and
prayed with me.
Thursday, October 26, 2006 -- The monarch butterfly
is a good example of God's design in creation. It is amazing that the
monarch butterflies can migrate up to 3,000 miles to winter in Mexico.
Sometimes it takes three generations of butterflies to finish the round
trip! How could the butterflies find the same tree their parents or
grandparents wintered at, if they had never seen that same tree before?
This is good evidence that God has programmed the instinctive
information necessary to guide the monarch butterflies to find the same
tree where their parents or grandparents had previously wintered.
• Reading Notes: How Long Were The Days of Genesis 1? -- Genesis Is Literal History -- Are The Days In Genesis, Chapter One, Literal 24-hour Days? -- The "Days" of Creation In Genesis 1: Literal "Days" or Figurative "Periods/epochs" of Time? -- How Could the Days of Genesis 1 Be Literal if the Sun Wasn't Created Until the Fourth Day? --
Friday, October 27, 2006 --
Last day of the week, thank God it's Friday!! Tonight is chip night
.... I get my 26-year chip at 12x12!! Yeah!!! Had a nice chat with the
intervention counselor yesterday. He also attends Big Valley Grace. He
told me that he had seen me at 12x12.
Big Book -- I'm on chapter Six, "Into Action." I've
been reading through the book of Isaiah in both the King James and New
International versions.
Scripture
for today: Isaiah 1:18, "Come
now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like
scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as
crimson, they shall be like wool."
Psalm 86:11, "Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name."
• Reading Notes: Six Days? Honestly! -- Genesis Means What It Says: Basil (AD 329-379) -- The Days of Creation: Literal Days or Long Ages? History, Symbol, Myth, or Legend? --
Saturday-Sunday, October 28-29, 2006
-- Took the kids (Dara, Ben, Donnie, Athena, Chelsea) to the Fruit
Barn. We were there for about two hours, then went home briefly to eat.
Took Donnie home, then went to church. Athena went to church with us,
to the kids class with Benny.
Spoke with Mike. He told me about a huge cross that
he saw in Texas -- a 19 story cross, 190 feet high, in Groom, Texas!
The Cross is the largest cross in the United States. You can see the Cross from 20 miles away. Check out The Cross
...... This was an incredible project, to build such a huge cross!
10,000,000 people pass by the Cross each year, and a thousand visitors
stop at the Cross each day!!
Sunday - Went to Bible study, then the worship service.
Monday, October 31, 2006--
This is my last entry for the October, 2006, blogs. Getting back to
Creation/Evolution, we must believe and teach that God is the Creator,
and the source of all life, and that the creation account found in
Genesis is literal, that is, God finished His creation is just six
literal, 24-hour, days. Any other teaching (Evolution, Theistic
Evolution, Progressive Creation, Gap-Theory ...) undermines/weakens the
Bible doctrine of creation, and also undermines/weakens our faith in
God. This link explaining the importance of believing and teaching Young Earth Creationism, is so important, that I will post it again -- - The Days of Creation: Literal Days or Long Ages? History, Symbol, Myth, or Legend? --
Will you believe men, who were not present during
creation, and who could be wrong, or will you believe God, who is the
Creator, and who was present during His creation? The issue concerning
the age of the creation is very important for Christians -- a matter of
integrity of the scripture.
