Tonight we are going to Celebrate Recovery at Big Valley. They serve dinner before the meeting begins, and have a program for the kids too. We had a great time of fellowship and worship.

Scripture for today: Psalm 119:1-2, Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!

Last night Benny and daddy went swimming. We had a great time in the pool. After swimming, we went shopping. Tonight we plan on going to the observatory again. It is cloudy this morning. Hope the skies clear up by this evening. Last time we were at the observatory, there were too many clouds in the sky. The object for observation tonight is Mars, which will be closer to Earth than usual, but not quite as close as in 2003 (just under 35,000,000 miles). Tonight Mars is around 45,000,000 miles away from Earth. See the links below for interesting links about Mars and astronomy ---

Saturday, November 5, 2005 -- Currently listening to -- 38th Parallel, "Turn The Tides." This is a great album, with a strong biblical messages.

Last night we went to the observatory. There were four high powered telescopes. One of the telescopes that somebody brought was about 100 years old! The best telescope last night was a 3 1/2 inch. We got a good look at Mars, the Andromena Galaxy, the Pleides, Polaris, and various other stars. Dr. Lubke was sharing his knowledge of astronomy, which is always interesting. Dr. Lubke told us of another observatory where we should be able to see Mercury! Mercury never gets any higher than about 25°, which makes it very difficult to see.

Sunday, November 6, 2005 -- Dara attended the first worship service, while I was with the singles Bible study, then Dara went to his youth group, while I attended the second worship service. Pastor Scott preached on Grace this morning at the singles Bible study. God's grace truly is sufficient! Our church is getting ready for Illuminate. Benny earned lots of Bible bucks today! Looks like it just might rain any day now. Sky has been overcast most of Saturday and Sunday. We sure need the rain.

Thursday-Sunday, November 10-13, 2005-- Thursday, Ben, Dara and daddy went swimming. Saturday the boys visited their mother. I had a nice long chat with great-great-aunt Ruth for about an hour and a half. Aunt Ruth is such a great encouragement. She is still active in the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army has been in Missoula, Montana, for over one hundred years! Picked up the boys about 3:00. We went to church early to help prepare the refreshments, as usual. Service was great! Benny earned 25 Bible Bucks. Sunday, the three of us went swimming, after working out. Dara and Ben climbed the rock wall while I worked out with weight and machines.

Scripture for today: Psalm 71:3, 5, 8, 12, 14-16, 19-20, 23: "Be my strong refuge, to which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. Let my mouth be filled with Your praise and with Your glory all the day. O God, do not be far from me; O God, make haste to help me! But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness and Your salvation all the day, for I do not know their limits. I will go in the strength of the Lord God; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again, and bring me up again from the depths of the earth. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed.

-- Praise God, for another great time at Celebrate Recovery! Two of our neighbors went with us. As usual, the worship was great. The music is reviving and refreshing. A married couple from another Celebrate Recovery group gave their testimony. I found a group to meet with. Lots of guys shared their stories. There were several guys who were at the meeting for the first time.

Scripture for today: Colossians 3:2, 10, 12-17: "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him. Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things
I cannot change, the courage to change the things
I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment
at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.

Trusting that You will make all things right if
I surrender to Your will, so that I may be reasonably
happy in this life and supremely happy with You
forever in the next.

Amen

Saturday, November 19, 2005 -- This morning is sunny, pleasantly cool (in the high 40s?). Helped out with preparing refreshments again at church. The service was uplifting. The message was titled, "Why Give?" from 1 Samuel chapters two and three. After the service we went to the YAC to say good-bye to one of the pastors who is moving to Florida to plant churches. We will miss you David! God bless. Had a good time of fellowship. Dara got to chat with David about Toby Mac. They went to school together back in Virginia.

Sunday, November 20, 2005 -- Went to singles Bible study this morning, then to the 2nd service. Ben went to the service today, and Dara stayed with us too. He didn't want to go to the youth group this morning. After church there was another going away party for David! About two hundred (or more) people showed up to say good-bye to David.
Sunday evening, we went to a concert at the Hub. Tara Leigh Cobble played her guitars and sang songs that she wrote, and share stories and testimonies connected with each song. She also shared her good humor, as she ministered to us all with music and stories.

Scripture for today: Romans 5:1-4, 8-9 -- Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowling that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character, and character, hope. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Monday, November 21, 2005 -- The youth group is hosting a party for their leaders tonight. The kids look like they are having a great time. They are eating pizza and other goodies, and watching Christian music videos. I got to meet Joel. We chatted a bit about some of the rock and metal Christian bands.

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 -- Went to Celebrate Recovery. They were serving barbeque chicken and hamburgers tonight. All the kids had a Thanksgiving dinner. Another great night of worship and Bible teaching. Went to the men's group. Lots of sharing and reflection on God's grace and mercy. One of the guys from Celebrate Recovery died in a car accident on the weekend. One of his friends spoke at our men's meeting.

Wednesday, November 23, 2005 -- Had my first assignment in preschool today, which was a complete surprise. I was told that the assignment was Special Ed. The kids were pretty good though, and there were only 13. Quite a few kids have been very ill with the flu and scarlet fever!

Tim invited us to spend Thanksgiving with him at his sister's place.
