Friday, April 24 , 2006--
There was a tornado warning for Modesto today! Several people said they
saw the funnel cloud. I was outside watching the weather. The sky was
dark, and there was lightening, rain, and a bit windy. The weather
report said there might be hail the size of dimes, but I never saw any
hail.
Friday, April 21 , 2006-- This month has been moving rather
quickly! The flu has come and gone .... Got some more old pictures from
my father. Sent lots of them to several cousins. Spoke with cousin
Velma, who will be 99 years old this July! She seems to be doing well.
I spoke with several other cousin who have visited her recently, and
they said that she is doing fine. Velma told me that her grandfather
(or great-grandfather) was from Scotland, and that his wife was from
Ireland. Benny got to chat with cousin Velma for a few minutes. Had a
nice chat with cousin Louis. He has been drying lots of apples for his
part-time business.
March and April this year have been very wet. I
think this has been a record year for rain. We heard lots of very loud
thunder the past two months. I've been working on the FAY lineage
recently. Found an old book online with lots of good information at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fayfamily/orlin235.html
Donnie visited us. The boys had lots of fun playing around. A bunch of
us from Shelter Cove went to LaserQuest. We had a blast playing laser
tag. There were 27 people in our group. I took Paul's son, Daniel,
Lennie's boy, Zach, Bennny and Ben's friend Tyler. This was my first
time ever playing laser tag. Met Paul's oldest son. Dara has been going
to the youth group at First Baptist with his friend. He really enjoys
the youth group. Mike came back from Washington and stayed with us for
several days. He was helping Paul move.
I've been reading a little book by Rick Warren, "What On Earth Am I
Here For?" Did petitioning for two days so far. Had pretty good
results. Met with Kurt before Celebrate Recovery. He is moving away. I
volunteered in the kitchen at Celebrate Recovery. Started attending a
Bible class at Shelter Cover. We are going through the Da Vinci Code,
and will be studying the history of the church and the New Testament.

-- Watched a documentary about Hitler and Stalin.
Scripture
for today: Psalm 46:1,
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Psalm 40:1-5
-- 1) I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard
my cry. 2) He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry
clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. 3) He has
put a new song in my mouth -- praise to our God; many will see it and
fear, and will trust in the Lord. 4) Blessed is that man who makes the
Lord his trust, and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside
to lies. 5) Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You
have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in
order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be
numbered.
Notes from reading, "What On Earth Am I Here For?" by Rick Warren --
Our purpose in life is not only to fulfill our own desires, but rather
to live for God, and to proclaim His word.
